Glossary
The Hippora glossary
Every core term, defined precisely, in one place. The shared vocabulary behind the Story, the Insights, and the Compass.
Compass (Life Compass)
A living reading of your values and direction across the important dimensions of your life. It evolves as you reflect and can always be traced back to real conversation. It is a direction to notice, never a score to chase. See the Life Compass →
Conversation
How you and Hippora talk, by voice or text. It is the primary interface and the source of everything else. Hippora is built to ask good questions and to hold a thread across years, not to answer and forget.
Entity
A person, place, project, habit, or theme that Hippora recognises across your life, the people and things your observations are about. Entities let a mention of your sister in March connect to a mention of her in November.
Insight
A pattern or piece of understanding that emerges across your conversations over time. Insights are surfaced only once there is enough evidence to say something genuinely true, and each can be traced back to the moments that support it. See Insights →
Journal
A place to write freely, or to answer one careful question a day. It is read for patterns and meaning, never for productivity, and everything written is held in the same continuous Story. See the Journal →
Life Understanding
The engine that turns memory into meaning, the recurring threads, the direction, and the shape of a life. It is always held with confidence and evidence and offered as something you can question. It is the difference between remembering your life and understanding it.
Memory
An observation significant enough to keep, connected to what came before. Every memory can explain why it is remembered, cites the moments that support it, and can be corrected or forgotten at any time. Not everything is kept, only what matters. How memory works →
Mentor
The voice of Hippora in conversation, a presence that has known you for years and asks better questions because it remembers the last ones. It is a companion for reflection, never a therapist or an authority. Meet the mentor →
Observation
The atomic record of something you said or that happened, kept with the words that support it and the time it occurred. Observations are the raw material of understanding; a message becomes an observation before it can ever become a memory.
Reflection
The practice Hippora is built around: thinking out loud with something that remembers. Because it recalls the last question, it can return you gently to what you said you wanted, when it matters.
Relationship
The trust that deepens between you and Hippora over years. Hippora learns your language, rhythm, and context and grows to know you better, while remaining the same character it has always been. It learns you; it does not become a different Hippora for each person.
Significance
The judgement of what matters enough to keep. Significance decides which observations rise to memory and which patterns are real, so nothing is stored for its own sake and nothing trivial is mistaken for meaning.
Story
One chronological account of your life, drawn only from what you have actually said. It is never invented, and it is the foundation that Insights and the Life Compass are built from. Read about Story →
